Welcome to the Web site of the Women’s Health Study at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. This landmark study was begun in April 1993 to test the benefits and risks of low-dose aspirin and vitamin E in the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease and cancer in U.S. women. Although the randomized trial ended in March 2004, the female health professionals who took part in it continue to help advance our knowledge about the prevention of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other chronic diseases in women by completing annual study questionnaires. Twenty-plus years and approximately 400 published research reports after it began, the WHS is still going strong.
