Welcome
Welcome to the website of the Women's Health Study (WHS) at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. This landmark trial was begun in April 1993 to test the benefits and risks of low-dose aspirin and vitamin E in the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease and cancer in 39,876 U.S. women. Although the randomized trial ended in March 2004, the female health professionals who took part in it continue to help advance our knowledge about the prevention of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other chronic diseases in women by completing annual study questionnaires. Over 30 years and over 700 published research reports later, the WHS is still going strong.
